Akili vs GatherUp

GatherUp helps businesses ask for reviews, monitor them and run NPS surveys. Akili does that too, then shows each site what to fix: it scores every location on what customers say, ranks the issues by likely effect on revenue, assigns fixes to the right people and measures whether they worked. If you run a multi-location brand and want reviews to change how your sites perform, not just how many reviews you collect, Akili is built for you.

At a glance

GatherUp is a review and feedback tool for small businesses, multi-location companies and agencies. Its strengths are review requests triggered from your CRM or till system, NPS surveys and monitoring across many review sites.

Akili is a customer intelligence platform for multi-location consumer brands such as restaurant, café, retail, leisure and gym groups. It brings every review, social comment and survey answer into one place, scores each site on five measures, compares you with nearby competitors and turns what customers say into ranked, owned and measured actions.

Five differences that matter for multi-location brands

  1. Every channel your customers use. Restaurant and café groups get a large share of feedback through Uber Eats and Deliveroo, and younger customers comment on Instagram and TikTok rather than leaving a Google review. Akili analyses delivery-app reviews and social comments in the same view as review sites and surveys. GatherUp doesn't list delivery apps or social comments.
  2. A score for every site, rolled up the way you're organised. Akili scores each location on five measures (trust, quality, service, value and digital experience) and rolls them up by region and brand, so an area manager sees their patch and head office sees the estate.
  3. What to fix first. Akili ranks each site's issues by their likely effect on revenue and churn. A cold-food complaint at a busy site ranks above a parking complaint at a quiet one, so managers start with the fix that matters most.
  4. From insight to owned action. Each priority becomes an action with an owner and a due date. Akili then compares the site's scores before and after, and estimates the revenue the change is worth, so you can show leadership what improved.
  5. AI search visibility. More customers now ask ChatGPT where to eat or shop. Akili shows how AI assistants describe your brand and locations, and what to change. GatherUp doesn't list this.

What you get for the money

Akili prices by plan rather than by location, and every plan includes all review sites, delivery apps, social comments, surveys, AI replies, location scores, competitor benchmarks and insight reports.

  • Starter: £1,000 a month for up to 10 locations, or £833 a month billed annually. For a 10-site group, that's £100 a site.
  • Professional: £2,900 a month for up to 50 locations, adding AI search visibility, impact tracking on every action and weekly reports. For a 50-site group, that's £58 a site.
  • No per-user fees, no setup fee and no minimum term on monthly plans.

GatherUp prices per location, with listings management and fake-review protection as paid add-ons (source). If you also need delivery-app and social analysis, competitor benchmarks by location or action tracking, you would need to add other tools.

An example: a 30-site café group

Illustrative example. A café group sees its average Google rating slip from 4.4 to 4.2. In Akili, the area manager for the North sees three sites scoring low on "quality", with "cold food" as the top issue on Deliveroo and Uber Eats, not on Google. Akili ranks it first because those sites take the most delivery orders. The manager assigns a fix (insulated bags and a packing check), and six weeks later Akili shows the quality score and delivery ratings recovering, with an estimate of the revenue protected.

Which is right for you?

GatherUp is a good fit if your main goal is collecting more reviews and running NPS, you have a small estate, and you're happy to analyse results yourself.

Akili is the better fit if you run a multi-location brand and want every source in one view, a score for every site, clear priorities, accountable owners and proof that changes worked.

Switching from GatherUp

Setup is included. Akili connects your review profiles and social accounts, loads your past reviews and scores every location in the first session. You can run Akili alongside GatherUp before your renewal and compare what each shows you.
